Congratulations to Our Newest PhD Graduate, Dr. Sam Myren!

The Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech is proud to announce and celebrate the successful completion of the doctoral degree requirements by Dr. Sam Myren.

Dr. Sam Myren successfully defended his dissertation titled "Statistical Evaluation of Deep Learning: Quantifying Uncertainty, Efficiency, and Adaptation in Time-Series Data" on 12/15/2025, a significant milestone representing years of rigorous work, dedication, and impactful research.

Dr. Sam Myren will be working at Los Alamos National Laboratory within the Test Engineering group on the Data Analysis Team. He looks forward to cross-domain collaboration to contribute to stockpile stewardship and global security goals. He expects to leverage statistical theory for model and algorithmic development with an emphasis on statistically rigorous analyses and model evaluation.
