Dr. Bob Schulman has just established the Robert S. Schulman Enrichment Fund in Statistics, an endowment that will provide support to our department for the recruitment and retention of graduate students.
Dr. Schulman is an emeritus faculty member who retired in 2007 after 35 years in the department. Over the course of his career, Bob served as the director of our graduate program, the director of the statistical consulting center, and as a consultant for research in social and behavior sciences. He is a member of Virginia Tech Academy of Teaching Excellence with expertise in psychometric methods, test theory, and survey research. In his retirement, Bob and his wife, Debby, travel and spend time with their six grandchildren. Bob is also an avid bridge player and reads to preschoolers.
Because of his experience as the director of graduate programs, Bob really wanted to do something in support of our graduate program and students. Now, through his generosity, the Robert S. Schulman Enrichment Fund in Statistics will provide the current and future graduate program directors with additional resources to help our graduate program grow and excel.
The faculty, staff and students all wish to express our thanks to Dr. Schulman for his generous support of the department!
