Undergraduate Awards
The Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech offers several undergraduate awards and scholarships to recognize outstanding academic achievement to students who are entering or currently enrolled and majoring in Statistics.
Each year Best-in-class Academic awards are presented to statistics majors who completed their Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior year and had the best academic performance that year for their respective classes. With this award each recipient receives a certificate and also a one-year Student Affiliate Membership with the American Statistical Association.
Two awards, each named after past undergraduate administrators in the Department of Statistics, are available to graduating seniors. The Whitfield Cobb Award is awarded to the graduating senior with the highest academic performance overall. The Clyde Y. Kramer Award is awarded to a graduating senior who has shown outstanding service to the University and the broader community.
