Conference Schedule 2003	Research Seminar

Thursday, September 11 through Saturday, September 13, the faculty and graduate students of the Virginia Tech Department of Statistics will be hosting the second annual Corporate Partners Program Conference. Lodging, meals, and local transportation will be provided for two representatives of each corporate partner so that we can make the most of our weekend together. The highlights are

• one-on-one interviews with Masters and Ph.D. candidates,

• advisory meetings with departmental leaders,

• an afternoon symposium to present current research projects,

• and plenty of opportunities to develop professional relationships and joint projects.

Schedule

Thursday, September 11
Afternoon	Roanoke Airport (ROA) Partners arrive, transportation to Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center provided if necessary.
6:15 p.m.	Donaldson Brown. Geoff Vining will take early arriving partners out for dinner.
8:00 p.m.	Home of Professor Bob Schulman (directions) Reception for partners, faculty, and graduate students
Friday, September 12
7:00-8:30 a.m.	Donaldson Brown, Breakfast.
9:00-12:00 noon	Departmental Conference Room, 418-A Hutcheson Hall Advisory Committee Meeting, chaired by Geoff Vining. One representative of each company meets with key committee chairs (Statistical Consulting Center, Graduate Program, Undergraduate Program, and Personnel Committee).	Donaldson Brown Interviews. One representative of each company meets graduate students in one-on-one interviews.
12:00-1:00 p.m.	Donaldson Brown Old Guard Room Lunch. Partners with Advisory Committee
2:00-4:30 p.m.	Donaldson Brown Room D&E Research Seminar, chaired by Bill Woodall. Short presentations of current research by select graduate students.	Donaldson Brown Interviews. One representative of each company meets graduate students in one-on-one interviews.
6:30 p.m.	Krazy May's Restaurant (formerly Anchy's, 1600 N. Main, 951-2828) Dinner. Partners, faculty, and graduate students.
Saturday, September 13
8:00 a.m. - noon	Donaldson Brown and Hutcheson Hall Interviews and Meetings. Faculty and graduate students will be available to meet with partners individually as desired.
10:00 a.m.	Meet in front of Hutcheson Hall to carppol to the Cascades in Jefferson National Forest The undergraduate students' STAT Club will lead a scenic hike.
Afternoon	Virginia Tech Golf Course Second Annual Bob Foutz Golf Challenge. Let us know by Thursday if you want to play 9 or 18 holes. All are welcome. Jefferson National Forest
5:30 p.m. until...	Home of Professor Geoff Vining (200 Lucas Drive, NE) Cookout. Geoff will demonstrate Six-Sigma grilling techniques.
Sunday, September 14
8:00-10:00 a.m.	Donaldson Brown, Breakfast, for those who want to stay over Saturday night.
