Conference Schedule 2002 Research Seminar 2002

Thursday, October 3 through Sunday, October 6, the faculty and graduate students of the Virginia Tech Department of Statistics will be hosting the second annual Corporate Partners Program Conference. Lodging, meals, and local transportation will be provided for two representatives of each corporate partner so that we can make the most of our weekend together. The highlights are

  • one-on-one interviews with Masters and Ph.D. candidates,

  • advisory meetings with departmental leaders,

  • an afternoon symposium to present current research projects,

  • and plenty of opportunities to develop professional relationships and joint projects.

Thursday, October 3
Afternoon Roanoke Airport (ROA)
Partners arrive,
transportation to Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center provided if necessary.
6:15 p.m. Donaldson Brown. Geoff Vining will take early arriving partners out for dinner.

Friday, October 4

Advisory Committee Meeting, chaired by Geoff Vining.
One representative of each company meets with key committee chairs (Statistical Consulting Center, Graduate Program, Undergraduate Program, and Personnel Committee).

One representative of each company meets graduate students in one-on-one interviews.

Lunch. Partners with Advisory Committee

Virginia Tech Golf Course
First Annual Bob Foutz Golf Challenge. Let us know by Thursday if you want to play 9 or 18 holes in honor of Professor Emeritus Foutz, who has taken early retirement. All are welcome.
Jefferson National Forest
The undergraduate students' STAT Club will lead a scenic hike to check out the early fall foliage.

5:30 p.m. until... Home of Professor Geoff Vining (200 Lucas Drive, NE)
Cookout. Geoff will demonstrate Six-Sigma grilling techniques.
Sunday, October 6
8:00-10:00 a.m. Donaldson Brown, Breakfast, for those who want to stay over Saturday night.
