Conference Schedule Research Symposium

Thursday, November 8 through Sunday, November 11, the faculty and graduate students of the Virginia Tech Department of Statistics will be hosting the first annual Corporate Partners Program Conference. Lodging, meals, and local transportation will be provided for two representatives of each corporate partner so that we can make the most of our weekend together. The highlights are

  • one-on-one interviews with Masters and Ph.D. candidates,

  • advisory meetings with departmental leaders,

  • an afternoon symposium to present current research projects,

  • and plenty of opportunities to develop professional relationships and joint projects.

Friday, November 9

Advisory Committee Meeting, chaired by Geoff Vining.
One representative of each company meets with key committee chairs (Statistical Consulting Center, Graduate Program, Undergraduate Program, and Personnel Committee).

Lunch. Partners with Advisory Committee

Twenty- to thirty-minute presentations of current research by select graduate students andfaculty.

Saturday, November 10

Interviews and Meetings. Faculty and graduate students will be available to meet with partners individually as desired.
Afternoon Wherever
Follow-up/Recreation? Blacksburg is surrounded by a wealth of natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. For those who are so inclined, a fine way to cap the weekend--all in the service of developing the corporate-academic relationship, of course.
